British stocks up 0.62 pct Monday

LONDON, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 45.17 points or 0.62 percent at 7,289.58 points.

Anglo American, the international mining group, soared 3.09 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Associated British Foods and International Consolidated Airlines Group rose by 3.06 percent and 2.66 percent, respectively.

Hammerson, a major British property development and investment company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.18 percent. Bunzl, a multinational distribution and outsourcing company, dropped 1.79 percent. Evraz, an international steel and mining company, dropped 1.46 percent. Enditem
