KUWAIT CITY, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday sent his greetings to the Kuwaiti people and residents on the country's 57th National Day and 27th Liberation Day.

The emir called on the Kuwaitis to work harder to maintain the country's security and national unity, and to carry on the path of development and revival.

He highly appreciated the overwhelming vigor displayed by the Kuwaitis during the nationwide celebrations well-organized by the public and private bodies to mark the national occasions.

They have formed a "national epic" reflecting loyalty to the nation and strengthening a "cohesive one Kuwaiti family," the emir said.

The emir also greeted leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members for their participation in Kuwait's National Days, both on the official and the popular levels and stressed the deep-rooted bond between the bloc's peoples.

He also thanked leaders of the Arab and other friendly countries for sharing Kuwait's national celebration.

Kuwait National Day and Liberation Day are celebrated on Feb. 25 and 26 respectively. Enditem
