Jordan appoints new ministers in cabinet reshuffle

AMMAN, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Jordan appointed new ministers on Sunday in a cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Hani Mulki, state-run Petra news agency reported.
Jafar Hassan, who was the director of King Abdullah's Office, was appointed as deputy prime minister and minister of state for economic affairs.
Jamal Sarayreh, chairman of the Arab Potash Company, was appointed as deputy prime minister and minister of state for prime ministry affairs.
This is the sixth reshuffle of the government of Prime Minister Hani Mulki, who formed his first Cabinet in May 2016.
The new ministers also included Samir Mubaidin as interior minister, Abdul Nasser Abul Basal for the awqaf and Islamic affairs portfolio, Nayef Fayez as minister of environment, Ahmad Abbadi as minister of state for legal affairs, Bashir Rawashdeh as youth minister, Samir Murad as labour minister and Ali Ghzawi as minister of water and irrigation.
All new ministers were sworn in before King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday.
Last week, the government survived a vote of no-confidence requested by Islamist MPs, who were supported by at least 30 other legislators. Enditem
