UNITED NATIONS -- Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations Ma Zhaoxu on Saturday called for the full implementation of the just adopted Security Council resolution that demands a 30-day cease-fire in Syria.

"Going forward, the international community should work together to ensure the full implementation of the just adopted Resolution 2401 so that it can play a positive role in improving the humanitarian situation in Syria," Ma told the Security Council after the vote. (UN-Syria-China)

TRIPOLI -- Clashes erupted on Saturday at a military checkpoint near the southern Libyan city of Murzuk between an army unit and militants, killing two soldiers and one militant, according to a military official.

"An exchange of fire took place between our troops and gunmen at a military checkpoint in Umm Al-Araneb area on the outskirts of the city, killing two members and one militant, and three other militants were arrested," Rajab Mehdi, a member of the army and police joint operations chamber in Murzuk, told Xinhua. TEHRAN -- South Korea will invest in the construction of a solar power plant in Zarandieh county in central Iran, official IRNA news agency reported on Saturday.

RABAT -- The Moroccan police said it arrested on Saturday a Nigerian who was attempting to smuggle cocaine at the Casablanca airport.
