Morocco jails 10 up to 12 years over terror-related crimes

RABAT, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- A Moroccan anti-terror court sentenced 10 people to between 4 and 12 years in prison over terror-related crimes, Moroccan official MAP news agency reported Friday.

The main accused, who already served a custodial sentence for terror-related offenses, was handed 12 years in jail.

In addition, one was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment, one to 8 years, three to 6 years, two to 5 years and the remaining four to 4 years.

The 10 accused, who joined a cell recruiting and sending young people to conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, were prosecuted for "setting up a gang to prepare and commit terrorist acts as part of a collective project aimed at seriously damaging public order" and "advocating and inciting terrorism."
