RABAT, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani and visiting Ghanian Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Marfo on Friday reaffirmed the two country's strong will to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

During the talks, the two officials hailed the good friendship between the two countries, which has been further consolidated since the visit of Morocco's King Mohammed VI to Ghana last year, the Moroccan prime minister's office said in a statement.

They also discussed the means to consolidate bilateral ties in various areas of socio-economic development, mainly through mutual visits and expertise sharing, it added.

Meanwhile, El Othmani thanked Ghana for supporting Morocco's return to the African Union and its request to join the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

For his part, Osafo-Marfo reaffirmed his country's support for Morocco to recover its membership in various bodies of the African Union, given Morocco's place as one of the founding countries of the Organization of African Unity, the predecessor of the African Union, and its continuous contribution to the economic and social development of Africa.
