French shares edge up Friday

PARIS, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.15 percent, or 8.14 points, to close at 5,317.37 points.

Altogether 22 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French construction material manufacturer Compagnie de Saint-Gobain advanced 2.9 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. French cosmetics company L'Oreal rose 1.85 percent, followed by French multinational telecommunications corporation Orange SA, which gained 1.48 percent.

French multinational automotive supplier VALEO went down by 11.09 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. European IT services corporation Atos lost 2.89 percent. The international telecommunication company Bouygues edged down 0.88 percent. Enditem
