Armenia, Georgia vow to strengthen cooperation in fighting crime

YEREVAN, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Armenia's Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan and visiting Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Gakharia vowed to enhance the partnership of two countries in fighting crime, a statement released by Armenian Police said on Friday.
Following the official welcome ceremony, Gasparyan and Gakharia held talks on a range of issues of mutual interest, according to the statement.
Gakharia said he was confident that the cooperation of the police forces of two countries in fighting crime would deepen due to the need to respond to challenges jointly.
For his part, Gasparyan stressed the importance of direct and everyday cooperation of relevant subdivisions and service members of the law-enforcement agencies of the two nations.
Upon the end of their meeting, Gasparyan awarded Gakharia with the Medal for Strengthening Cooperation. Enditem
