Tokyo stocks advance in morning on Wall Street's solid lead

TOKYO, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Friday morning on the back of a solid lead from Wall Street overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 77.87 points, or 0.36 percent, from Thursday to 21,814.31.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 8.61 points, or 0.49 percent, at 1,754.78.

Oil and coal product, construction and mining-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
