Spanish shares gain 0.54 pct Thursday

MADRID, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares rose on Thursday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 up 0.54 percent or 53.20 points, to close at 9,876.50 points.

A total of 20 of the selected 35 large companies gained in the day.

Telecommunications company Telefonica advanced 3.80 percent, being the top gainer of the day. Supermarket chain DIA rose 2.90 percent and gas natural infrastructure company Enagas was up 1.93 percent.

Infrastructure company ACS lost 1.33 percent, being the top loser of the blue chips. Spain's third largest bank Caixabank went down 0.96 percent and stainless steel manufacturer Acerinox was down 0.58 percent. Enditem
