Germany wins Nordic combined team Gundersen gold in PyeongChang

PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Nordic combined powerhouse Germany won its as many as third gold medal at PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games following Thursday's victory in team Gundersen large hill/4x5km cross-country skiing.

Germany, teamed up by Vinzenz Geiger, Fabian Riessle, Eric Frenzel and Johannes Rydzek, posted a best time of 46 minutes and 9.8 seconds among 10 participating teams.

Prior to Thursday's win, Rydzek led three Germans to sweep the podium of individual Gundersen large hill/10km cross-country, and Frenzel was crowned in individual Gundersen normal hill/10km cross-country.

Norway followed Germany to take away the silver medal, with a 52.7-second gap separating the two sides.

The bronze belonged to Austria in 47:17.6. Enditem
