Singaporean stocks close 0.79 pct lower

SINGAPORE, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed down on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 0.79 percent or 27.77 points to close at 3,488.46.

A total of 1.83 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.73 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.31 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 331 to 121.

The STI index closed up 1.14 percent or 39.7 points to close at 3,516.23 on Wednesday. Enditem
