LUSAKA, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday:

-- The Swedish government is developing a new strategy to increase its expenditure on development cooperation to Zambia.

Acting Head of Southern and Central Africa Department in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mia Rimby, said when Zambia's Ambassadors to Sweden Rose Salukatula paid a courtesy call on her that financial commitment in development cooperation was expected to increase by September this year/ (Daily Nation)

-- Zambian Vice-President Inonge Wina has commended the Canadian government for its continued support to the country's socio-economic development agenda.

The vice-president said when a delegation from the Canadian Commercial Corporation paid a courtesy call on her that Canada has been consistent in supporting the country's development agenda and that it will soon build a hospital worth about 150 million U.S. dollars. (Times of Zambia)

-- Six pupils who died during a birthday boat cruise in central Zambia's Serenje district have been buried after they were retrieved from the farm dam.

The pupils aged between 9 and 14 drowned last Friday when a boat with a capacity of six, carried 12 of them on a boat cruise and later capsized. (Zambia Daily Mail)
