JERUSALEM -- Israeli Supreme Court's Chief Justice Esther Hayut gave an open testimony to the police on Tuesday over a corruption case involving one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's confidants.

The testimony concerns a new corruption allegation that emerged on Tuesday, in which the police accused Nir Hefetz, Netanyahu's close associate and his former media adviser, of attempting to bribe a judge, Hila Gerstel. (Israel-Chief Justice-Netanyahu Probe)

DOHA -- Qatar and Chad have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to resume diplomatic relations several months after the two countries severed ties, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported Wednesday.

The spokesperson for Qatar's Foreign Ministry Lulwah al-Khater said both countries would return their ambassadors with immediate effect. (Qatar-Chad-Ties)

TRIPOLI -- Three soldiers of the Libyan eastern-based army were killed on Wednesday in a suicide attack on a military checkpoint in the city of Jufra, 650 km southeast of the capital Tripoli, according to military and medical sources.

"According to preliminary information, a suicide bomber driving a car attacked a military checkpoint at the western entrance of Jufra," an official of the army's operations chamber of Jufra told Xinhua. (Libya-Suicide Attack)

GAZA -- The Gaza municipality on Wednesday declared a state of emergency, citing reduced services caused by resource shortages and foreign aid cuts.
