German shares close flat Wednesday

FRANKFURT, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- German stocks closed flat on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 17.41 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 12,470.49 points.

Energy group RWE lost 2.75 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by pharmaceutical company Merck and sportswear and equipment maker Adidas, which lost 1.44 and 1.26 percent respectively.

Marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group gained 2.57 percent, becoming the top gainer. Multinational chemical firm Linde advanced 1.83 percent. German airlines Lufthansa went up by 1.51 percent.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share with a turnover of 248.60 million euros (306.07 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
