U.S. soldier killed in non-combat incident in Iraq

WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- One U.S. soldier had been killed in a non-combat-related incident in Baghdad, Iraq, the U.S. Department of Defense said on Tuesday.

The service woman, who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq, was killed on Monday in Baghdad as a result of a non-combat-related incident, said the Pentagon in a statement, without giving details of the incident.

The soldier was assigned to the 89th Sustainment Brigade, Wichita, Kansas, according to the statement.

The incident is still under investigation.

The Operation Inherent Resolve is the U.S.-led military campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Enditem
