VIENNA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Renewed heavy snowfall in eastern Austria on Tuesday has led to one traffic fatality along with numerous accidents and road closures, with weather authorities warning the conditions would remain in the coming days.

The central state of Styria saw snow of up to 40 cm, with road maintenance and rescue crews reportedly stretched to full capacity.

A 40-year-old woman died in an accident on Tuesday morning when a car and truck collided, which also left a 44-year-old man seriously injured.

Eastern states Lower Austria, Burgenland, and Vienna all saw similar winter conditions. Weather authorities said a further 15 cm of snow was expected for these regions until midday Wednesday.

In addition, snowy and icy roads can be expected in parts of the country until Friday. Enditem
