French shares gain 0.64 pct Tuesday

PARIS, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.64 percent, or 33.68 points, to close at 5,289.86 points.

30 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

Saint-Gobain SA, a building and high-performance material company advanced 2.95 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer rose 2.53 percent, followed by European multinational aerospace and defence corporation Airbus Group, who gained 2.21 percent.

French retail giant Carrefour went down by 1.86 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French multinational information technology consulting corporation Cap Gemini lost 1.29 percent. French multinational car manufacturer Renault edged down 1.13 percent. Enditem
