Germany sweep the podium of Nordic Combined Individual Gundersen large hill at PyeongChang Games

PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Germany displayed its dominance in Nordic Combined as three athletes swept the podium of individual Gundersen large hill/10km cross-country at PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games here on Tuesday.

Johannes Rydzek, who started 31 seconds behind after the ski jumping, made a strong comeback in the cross-country skiing and finished the race with the match-best time of 23 minutes and 52.5 seconds.

Compatriot Fabian Riessle was second, 0.4 seconds adrift Rydzek. Another German Eric Frenzel, two-time Olympic gold medalist of individual Gundersen normal hill in 2014 and 2018, was another 0.4 seconds behind on the podium.

Japan's Watabe Akito, who kicked off the cross-country skiing in leading position, finished fifth, 12.5 seconds behind Rydzek. Enditem
