BAGHDAD, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun arrived in Iraq on Tuesday for an official visit to the country, an Iraqi official said.

Aoun met and discussed bilateral relations with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Masoum after arrival, the official from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry told Xinhua.

President Aoun is accompanied by a ministerial delegation of Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and other senior officials, the source said.

The Lebanese president is also expected to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jubouri, and discuss issues covering security cooperation, economics and tourism, he added.

It is Aoun's first visit to Iraq and he will leave for Armenia afterward. Enditem
