Somalia appoints new heads of security agencies

MOGADISHU, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Somalia's cabinet on Monday approved appointment of heads of police force and intelligence agency as the Horn of African nation seeks stabilization ahead of the exit of the African Union mission.

According to a statement released after the cabinet meeting in Mogadishu, Bashir Ahmed Mohamed was promoted to be the new commander of the Somali Police Force.

Hussein Osman Hussein, former deputy health minister, was appointed the new head of the National Intelligence Service Agency (NISA), while Bashir Mohamed Jama was reappointed as Chief of Custodial Corps less than a year after being replaced.

Mohamed replaced Abdihakim Dahir Said while Hussein replaced Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloolshe, who was sacked after the deadly October 12, 2017 twin terror attacks in Mogadishu that claimed more than 500 lives. Enditem
