GARISSA, Kenya, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan police have arrested one terror suspect in the Friday school attack, in which three people including two teachers were killed by Al-Shabaab militants, an official said on Monday.
Northeastern Regional Commissioner Mohamud Saleh said that a team of multi-agency security involved in the operation to track down the suspects is narrowing in on the other two suspects still at large.
"Even if they cross over to Somalia we shall go for them," said Saleh in Garissa when he opened a five-day training workshop for local government officials.
Saleh said that the security apparatus are determined to arrest all those involving in the heinous killing.
Two non-local teachers were killed alongside the wife of one of them, when gunmen attacked Qarsa Primary School early Friday.
Following the attack, non-local teachers have threatened to leave the region en mass claiming their lives are in danger.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) secretary Noor Bardad for Wajir County said more than ten schools have been hard hit by the exit of the teachers.
The local union officials condemned the killings and urged Teacher Service Commissioner (TSC) their employer body to transfer all non-local teachers from the region to other parts of the country.
According to union officials, over 60 percent of teachers in Wajir County are non-locals and their departure could paralyze learning in schools. Enditem
