NAIROBI, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Monday.

-- Kenya's tourism sector has been hit hard by insecurity and bad politics in the last one decade leading to closure of several key hotels at the Coast.

Once a vibrant sector, the tourism industry has been badly beaten by election violence and Al-Shabaab terror attacks, though the government said last year foreign tourist arrivals rose to 1.3 million despite prolonged electioneering period.

Hundreds of jobs have been lost following the closure of the hotels and the dwindling number of tourists especially in Malindi. Curio sellers say they can hardly sell stock worth 500 U.S. dollars a month. (Daily Nation).

-- Simmering row between opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) parties over leadership positions in parliament deepened when a decision to replace some MPs was rejected. Leaders had agreed to swap MPs positions but this has been opposed, threatening to split the coalition. (The Standard).

-- Opposition MPs have said they would once again not participate in the vetting of principal secretaries and ambassadors nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The MPs boycotted vetting of Cabinet Secretaries. (The Star).

-- Kenya is likely to become the third African country to borrow from the international markets this year to pay up her maturing debts after Egypt and Nigeria with offers expected to be as much as 3 billion U.S. dollars. (Business Daily). Enditem
