LUSAKA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

--First Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda has urged the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to continue promoting peace and unity in his country.

Kaunda, in remarks delivered when the DRC leader, who was in Zambia to hold talks with his counterpart Edgar Lungu, paid a courtesy call on him, advised Kabila to promote love and unity in his country. (Times of Zambia)

--An opposition political party in Zambia says it was not against Chinese investment in the country as long as the investment was meant to benefit local people.

Mwenya Musenge, secretary general of the National Democratic Congress, said his party was not against Chinese investment as the investment was deep-rooted in Africa and that the benefits derived were extremely enormous. (The Mast)

--A farmers' body has welcomed the appointment of a new agriculture minister but urged the new minister to maintain high levels of consultation with stakeholders to make collective positions of key policy matters.

The Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) said the appointment of a new minister following reshuffles conducted last week has raised hopes among farmers as the previous minister was not keen to engage stakeholders. (News Diggers) Enditem
