MALE -- Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen on Monday requested the parliament to extend the state of emergency for further 15 days amid the ongoing political crisis.
The parliament which convened for a special session, is now discussing the president's request and will soon take a vote among legislators.

KABUL -- At least 11 militants of Islamic State (IS) terrorist group were killed after the Afghan air force struck their positions in eastern Nangarhar province, the Defense Ministry said Monday.
The air raid struck IS militants' hideouts in Achin district late Sunday, leaving 11 members of the terror group dead, the ministry tweeted. (Afghanistan-IS-Airstrike)

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli fighter jets targeted underground infrastructure in the southern Gaza Strip early Monday, in response to the projectile that was launched into Israeli territory from Gaza Sunday night.
The underground infrastructure belongs to the Hamas, said the Israeli Defense Forces in a statement issued on early Monday. "The IDF will continue to act in order to ensure the security of the civilians of Israel and will do so by all means at its disposal." (Israel-Strikes-Gaza)

MEXICO CITY -- A magnitude-6.0 quake struck 43 km east of Mexico's southern Oaxaca state at a depth of 10 km at 0656 GMT, the country's National Seismological Service reported early Monday.
