Syrian citizen killed in shooting incident on Syria-Lebanon border

BEIRUT, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Lebanese security source said Saturday that a Syrian citizen was killed and another one injured during a shooting incident at dawn on the Lebanese-Syrian northern border.

The source said that the body of the killed Syrian was found on the Syrian side of the river separating the two countries.

The injured Syrian managed to swim across the river to Lebanon where he was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The source identified the killed as Khaled al-Hassan, a Syrian displaced living in the Al-Sheikh Abbas village in north Lebanon.

While the injured was identified as Mohammad al-Jabouri, another displaced living in the Abboudieh village in north Lebanon.

Residents in Abboudieh told Xinhua that they heard at dawn Saturday gunfire and they saw member of the Syrian Army standing next to the body of the killed before transporting the body inside Syria.

The Lebanese security agencies are investigating the incident and interrogating the injured Syrian. Enditem
