LUSAKA, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Saturday:

-- Houses in several residential areas in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, were flooded due to heavy rains the city experienced on Friday for over four hours. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has sent a message of condolences to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the death of that country's former prime minister and leading opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

Lungu said he received the unfortunate demise of the Zimbabwean opposition leader with a heavy heart and that the opposition leader will be remembered for his courage, humility and patriotic spirit. (Times of Zambia)

-- Former Zambian Finance Minister Felix Mutati, who was moved this week to another ministry during a cabinet reshuffle, said he was not bitter about the transfer as he was happy to serve in any capacity.

The former finance minister, whose transfer has received mixed reactions, said the reshuffle should be taken as a performance enhancement booster. (Daily Nation)

-- It is unfortunate that the civil society voice in the Zambia has gone to sleep and stopped its role of checking the government, a veteran politician and diplomat has said.
