China snap Japan's three-game winning streak in PyeongChang Games women's curling

PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- China beat Japan 7-6 after an extra end here Saturday morning to snap a three-game winning streak of the Japanese women in the PyeongChang Games curling competitions.

Entering an extra end for the third match in a row in the round-robin preliminaries, the Chinese women finally took the victory to improve their win-loss record to 2-2.

Chinese Skipper Wang Bingyu, who had made a decisive mistake in Thursday's 7-6 extra-end loss to Olympic athletes from Russia, secured the match winner with a nice shot this time.

"I think we were more prepared and felt more comfortable," said Wang Bingyu. "After missing the last draw shot to lose to Russia, we think about that and we feel more comfortable than that second game. I trust my teammates and I know they can do that."

"I am happy to win. Five more games, we'll just keep going and try our best," Wang added.

Also on Saturday morning, Sweden nipped Switzerland 8-7, United States defeated Olympic athletes from Russia 7-6 and Denmark lost to Britain 7-6.

Sweden led the standings of the women's curling round-robin with four straight wins, followed by Britain and Japan on three wins against one loss. Enditem
