LISBON, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- A Portuguese-Chinese online dictionary was launched on Friday on the occasion to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year.
The dictionary is produced by the Portuguese publisher Porto Editora and is available on its Infopedia web platform. It features 25,500 entries and some 36,500 translations.
Chinese thus became Porto Editora's 7th foreign language with an online Portuguese dictionary, joining English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Dutch.
The Portuguese-Chinese online dictionary is based on a paper version originally published by Porto Editora in 2010. The compiler of that first dictionary, Ana Cristina Alves, helped Porto update and refine its offering for the web.
Cristina Alves is a Chinese to Portuguese translator. She gained a PhD in the philosophy of Chinese history and culture from Lisbon University in 2005. Enditem
