British stocks up 0.83 pct Friday

LONDON, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 59.89 points or 0.83 percent at 7,294.70 points.

SEGRO, a British estates group, soared 6.48 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and WPP rose by 4.45 percent and 4.18 percent respectively.

Randgold Resources, a major multinational metal company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.14 percent. Antofagasta, the Chilean mining group, dropped 1.89 percent. BHP Billiton, the multinational mining and metals company, dropped 1.29 percent. Enditem
