French shares gain 1.13 pct Friday

PARIS, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 1.13 percent, or 59.06 points, to close at 5,281.58 points.

36 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

European multinational aerospace and defence corporation Airbus Group advanced 2.92 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French tire manufacturer Michelin rose 2.48 percent, followed by French alcoholic beverages producer Pernod-Ricard, which gained 2.47 percent.

French multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi went down by 6.04 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. Saint-Gobain SA, a building and high-performance material company, lost 0.39 percent. Belgian chemical company Solvay edged down 0.18 percent. Enditem
