RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- A strong storm left the Brazilian capital in complete chaos in the early hours of Thursday, killing four people and forcing 2,000 people to leave their homes.

An elderly couple and a 15-year-old boy died in two landslides triggered by the storm, and a police officer was killed as the car he drove was hit by a fallen tree.

In some areas in the city, the entire neighborhood was flooded following months-long rain with the water levels in certain areas exceeding two meters, causing hundreds of families to be displaced.

Main highways in the city were flooded, causing residents to be unable to get to work.

Rio mayor Marcelo Crivella, who is on a trip to Europe, posted a video on social networks, saying he is "monitoring the situation" and the Civil Defense services are working to deal with the situation. Enditem
