Tokyo stocks advance in morning as market mood lifted by Wall Street's gains

TOKYO, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo Stocks advanced Friday morning as Wall Street's recent winning streak and solid overnight tone lifted the market mood.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 234.73 points, or 1.09 percent, from Thursday to 21,699.71.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 19.45 points, or 1.13 percent, at 1,738.72.

Electric power and gas, fishery, agriculture and forestry, and glass and ceramics products-linked issues led those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
