JOHANNESBURG, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Cyril Ramaphosa, leader of South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress, was elected Thursday by the National Assembly to be the nation's new president.

The election came after former president Jacob Zuma announced his resignation on Wednesday night. Ramaphosa also becomes the fifth democratic president of the Republic of South Africa. (South Africa-President)

NEW DELHI -- At least three people were killed and one injured Thursday after an under-construction building collapsed in southern Indian city of Bengaluru, officials said.

ADDIS ABABA -- Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has submitted a resignation letter, state-affiliated media outlet Radio Fana said Thursday.

AYBAK, Afghanistan -- At least two persons including a child were killed and two others injured Thursday in a blast in northern Afghanistan's Samangan province, according to police.
