BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Thursday moved up 8.77 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 1,800.86 points.

Some 8.69 billion shares worth 44.64 billion baht (about 1.43 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Thursday with benchmark Indices continuing to trade positive, backed by banking & financials, technology, auto, metals and oil & gas stocks.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 34,297.47, up 141.52 points, or 0.41 percent, compared to its previous close at 34,155.95.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Thursday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,838.28 up 3.35 points or 0.18 percent, and the Emas was at 13,117.49 up 45.76 points or 0.35 percent.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.17 percent higher on Thursday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 14.33 points to 8,612.44. The all-share index went up by 2.80 points, or 0.06 percent, to 5,075.60.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Thursday down 0.04 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 0.42 points to reach 964.79 points after closing.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday as investor sentiment was bolstered by Wall Street's advance overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 310.81 points, or 1.47 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,464.98.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed up on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 1.19 percent or 40.65 points to close at 3,443.51.

The STI index closed down 0.36 percent or 12.21 points to close at 3,402.86 Wednesday.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Thursday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 0.08 point, or 0.02 percent, to close at 337.3 points.
