Tokyo stocks close higher as Wall Street's overnight rise lifts market mood

TOKYO, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday as investor sentiment was bolstered by Wall Street's advance overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 310.81 points, or 1.47 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,464.98.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 16.55 points, or 0.97 percent, to finish at 1,719.27.

Insurance, precision instruments, and services-linked stocks comprised those that gained the most by the close of play. Enditem
