French shares gain 1.1 pct Wednesday

PARIS, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- French shares rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 1.1 percent, or 56.02 points, to close at 5,165.26 points.

Altogether 38 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French luxury goods holding company Kering advanced 5.37 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe rose 4.81 percent, followed by STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer, who gained 3.00 percent.

Credit Agricole, a French network of cooperative and mutual banks, went down by 2.83 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total closed flat. Enditem
