COLOMBO -- At least seven people were killed and two others critically injured when a tea warehouse collapsed here on Wednesday, police said.

Among those killed were three women. The deceased and injured were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital. (Sri Lanka-Collapse)

MANILA -- Philippine Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano praised on Wednesday the the second meeting of the China-Philippines Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) on the South China Sea.

The second BCM meeting was held here on Tuesday, with the Chinese delegation led by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou and the Philippine delegation headed by Philippine Foreign Undersecretary Enrique Manalo. (Philippines-China-South China Sea)

PHNOM PENH -- The majority of the Cambodians celebrate Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, since many of them have Chinese ancestry and others believe that celebrating the festival will bring them good luck in the new year.

MANILA -- The Philippines' first transgender lawmaker took her oath on Wednesday as a reservist officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), becoming the country's first transgender military officer.

The Department of National Defense said in a statement that Rep. Geraldine Roman, a member of the House of Representatives, donned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as she officially joined the Philippine Army Reserve Force. (Philippines-Transgender lawmaker) Enditem
