Netherlands registers highest economic growth in 10 years

THE HAGUE, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The economy in the Netherlands grew by 3.1 percent over the full-year 2017, the highest growth since 2007, the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics CBS announced on Wednesday.

In 2016 the growth figure was 2.2 percent. The last time the growth figure was higher than in 2017 was in 2007, when it was 3.7 percent.

According to the CBS the growth is broadly driven by exports, more investments and more consumption compared with the previous year. In the fourth quarter of 2017, the growth was 0.8 percent compared with the previous quarter and 2.9 percent compared with Q4 of 2016.

"The Dutch Economy is doing well," commented Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Eric Wiebes in a statement.

"Economic growth makes it possible for us to meet major societal challenges such as the energy and climate transition and the high costs of health care," said the minister. Enditem
