Top news items in major S. African media outlets

CAPE TOWN, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Wednesday.

-- On Wednesday morning, the Hawks, a special anti-crime unit, raided at least two properties in Johannesburg, including the Gupta family home.

There have been reports of at least two arrests, but the crime-fighting unit is yet to confirm this officially. (Eyewitness News)

-- Following the ANC's decision to officially recall President Jacob Zuma, attention has shifted to Parliament where a number of emergency meetings are taking place, and to Zuma himself, who is yet to respond.

The Presidency had planned a media briefing for 10:00am on Wednesday, but then cancelled it. (News24)

-- The South African Communist Party (SACP) has welcomed the raid by police on the Gupta compound that took place on Wednesday morning.

Police have confirmed the raid on the compound in Saxonwold north of Johannesburg and spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said more raids are expected but could not elaborate as to where and when.
