BEIJING -- China's major stock indices rose on Tuesday, tracking Wall Street gains overnight.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.98 percent to close at 3,184.96 points, and the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.69 percent higher at 10,362.43 points.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks reversed earlier gains on the back of U.S. shares rising overnight, with the Nikkei closing at a four-month low Tuesday as the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar dented exporter issues.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 137.94 points, or 0.65 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,244.68, marking its lowest closing level since Oct. 13.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 379.900 points, or 1.290 percent, to 29,839.529 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 29,783.102 and 30,168.998. Turnover totaled 128.80 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 16.47 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Tuesday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.89 percent or 30.09 points to close at 3,415.07.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 124.31 points on Tuesday, up 2.29 points or 1.88 percent against the previous trading session.
Over 45.166 million shares worth some 787.752 billion Vietnamese dong (some 35.1 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Tuesday, an increase of 11.4 percent in volume and 31.2 percent in value against the previous trading session.
