1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher on Wall Street rally

BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices rose on Tuesday, tracking Wall Street gains overnight.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.98 percent to close at 3,184.96 points, and the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.69 percent higher at 10,362.43 points.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.03 percent to close at 1,648.58 points.

Lifted by heavyweights such as property and banking shares, the Shanghai stock index surged by nearly 2 percent in the morning session before narrowing gains in the afternoon.

Property shares saw strong performance on Tuesday, with Rongfeng Holding Group Co., Ltd surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to end at 13.62 yuan (about 2.16 U.S. dollars) per share.

Leshi Internet Information and Technology, a major growth firm listed on the ChiNext, continued to struggle, with its shares plunging 6.73 percent to 4.16 yuan.

Official data on the domestic economy showed China's new yuan-denominated loans hit 2.9 trillion yuan for January, 867 billion yuan more than the same period a year earlier and a record high. Enditem
