SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Consul General to San Francisco Luo Linquan said Monday that he hoped overseas Chinese in the United States would continue to work for the long-term development of China-U.S. relations.

In a message of greetings to the Chinese community in San Francisco on the occasion of the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year of the Dog, which falls on Feb. 16, Luo said 2017 witnessed positive momentum in the development of China-U.S. relations, and ever-growing change and achievements in China's development.

"We have all seen the advent of a new era and shared the warmth and glory of a wealthier and more powerful motherland," he said.

Overseas Chinese have made contributions to building a bridge of friendship between the two countries, and played a vital role in safeguarding the core interests of China and spreading Chinese culture to the rest of the world, Luo added.

While expressing his appreciation to the Chinese community in San Francisco, Luo said he hoped that overseas Chinese in the consular district would continue to support the development of China and contribute to writing a new chapter for the long-term, steady and healthy development of China-U.S. ties.
