Tokyo stocks open higher on Wall Street's lead, BOJ chief's reappointment news

TOKYO, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday taking a positive cue from Wall Street overnight, while investors continued to digest news that Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda will be reappointed.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 166.16 points, or 0.78 percent, from Friday to 21,548.78.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.91 points, or 0.40 percent, to 1,738.88.
Securities, textiles and apparels, and real estate-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
