Early voting for local elections in Belarus to start on Feb. 13

MINSK, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Early voting for the elections to the local councils of deputies in Belarus will start on Feb. 13, the Central Election Commission of Belarus said Monday.

Early voting will be held from Feb. 13 to 17, 2018. Working hours of polling stations are from 10:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. local time and from 16:00 p.m. to 19:00 p.m. local time, the Commission said.

According to the Central Election Commission of Belarus, 22,278 candidates are vying for 18,111 deputy mandates.

Local councils is a form of self-government in Belarus. Local councils have broad powers: approving local budgets and taxes, dealing with public property, and appointing local referenda if necessary.

Elections to local councils of deputies of the 28th convocation will be held in Belarus on Feb. 18, 2018. Enditem
