KHARTOUM, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Sudan on Monday officially declared resumption of border trade with South Sudan in implementation to directives by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, Sudan Tribune reported.
A government delegation, led by Sudan's Trade Minister Hatim al-Sir, on Monday visited Sudan's White Nile State on the border with South Sudan to declare the resumption of the border trade between the two countries.
"This step will be one of the mechanisms to limit the smuggling of commodities," Sudan's Trade Minister Hatim al-Sir, was quoted in the report as saying.
He called for formulation of a unified vision between the two countries to reactivate the border trade and facilitate its movement.
"We reiterate our endeavor to develop the border trade with all the countries around us to create good ties," said al-Sir.
On April 15, 2014, Sudan decided to stop border trade with South Sudan, which has been suffering from a civil war since 2013. Enditem
