British stocks up 1.19 pct Monday

LONDON, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 84.63 points or 1.19 percent at 7,177.06 points.

Evraz, an international steel and mining company, soared 5.76 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and Shire rose by 4.37 percent and 3.97 percent, respectively.

Severn Trent, a British water company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.90 percent. United Utilities Group, another British water company, dropped 1.24 percent. Paddy Power Betfair, a large British bookmaking business, dropped 0.86 percent. Enditem
