3 wounded by wind-driven debris in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Three adults were injured, including one in critical condition, after they were struck by wind-driven debris in San Francisco on the U.S. west coast Sunday, the city's fire department tweeted.

The San Francisco Fire Department said the two people have been hospitalized after they sustained injuries at a construction site on San Jose avenue, about 5 km from downtown San Francisco.

"Both victims are adults, one of whom has been upgraded to life threatening injuries," the fire department tweeted.

One of the victims was a construction worker and the two others were pedestrians.

Strong wind gusts in this city also knocked down a chain link fence surrounding the area.

A twitter user posted a picture from Google street view showing a building under construction, suggesting that the building's bad design plus high winds would easily hurt people badly. Enditem
