Each Games has its own contribution to Olympic culture, says Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage boss

PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Francis Gabet, director of Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage, said on Friday that each Olympic Games will make their own contributions to the Olympic culture and heritage.

"There are competitions in field of play, and every athlete is going for medal, but in terms of spreading culture and education, every country, every city and even many people in the world, they made their own contributions to this culture," said Gabet, who will be attending the PyeongChang Winter Games.

"If you look at every country, like China, they brought a lot to the Olympic values because it's a big country with a long history. This time in South Korea, it's a different culture. So there's no competition. Everyone has to be involved, to be engaged, everyone has to give their best."

Asked about the impact upon the Olympic culture and heritage from the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, Gabet said he's confident that the Beijing2022 will be ready to impress the world again.

"You are experienced, and you already did a great Games in 2008. Now you have won another opportunity to do it again, and you have got an experienced team to do it. I'm sure that China will have a big program for doing its best to leave more legacy. You've already begun with the launch of the Samaranch Foundation with our help. I believe they will do much more in the coming years."

The PyeongChang Winter Games will open on Feb. 9. Enditem
