NAIROBI, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Kenya's major media outlets on Friday.

-- Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga on Thursday remained defiant in the face of a state crackdown on those associated with his swearing-in on Jan. 30.

Odinga said he was ready to pay the ultimate price if that would translate to a free electoral process in future. The opposition leader said the country was under threat from a government attempting to turn back the hands of time and curtail freedoms. (The Standard)

-- Legislators allied to the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) on Thursday boycotted the vetting of President Uhuru Kenyatta's nominees to the Cabinet. Opposition MPs said they would not take part in the exercise since they do not recognize Kenyatta's win. (Daily Nation)
